Tayside Contracts is the commercial trading arm of the Councils of Angus, Dundee City and Perth & Kinross and provides Construction and Facilities Management Services.  With a turnover of over £75m and a workforce of approximately 2,500 we are one of the largest employers in Tayside.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and with overall responsibility for leading the Construction Division which incorporates the Roads Maintenance, Street Lighting, Transport, Quarry, Estimating and Business Improvement functions within Tayside Contracts, the Head of Operations role is seen as critical to our success.  

You will be collectively responsible for the corporate management and governance of Tayside Contracts. You will participate in the corporate financial management and stewardship of Tayside Contracts and contribute to the formulation and implementation of organisational and business strategies.  

You will be a Chartered Engineer, with a degree in engineering or management or equivalent and have extensive leadership experience, preferably within Scottish Local Government.  You will also have had significant experience of working at a senior leadership level, ideally at a corporate level.

You must have high levels of integrity and independence and be motivated with high professional standards.  You will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in leading, developing and motivating teams to achieve high performance.

A driving licence is essential along with access to a vehicle or the ability to meet the mobility requirement of the job by equally effective means.
