Provide technical expertise and lead project technical teams to develop and deliver the most appropriate technical solution for key infrastructure projects ranging from Highways to Rail and Airports. The Transport Design Manager will coordinate all multi‐disciplinary activities and inputs by the technical team to ensure integrated technical solution delivery and create a Digital Engineering set of Tools and promote adoption across the global organisation. In addition, further priorities would be to:

  • Focus on the development of the business’ transportation and potential future capital project delivery expertise
  • Identify opportunities and develop high level relationships with key transportation clients in line with business strategies
  • Work inclusively with clients and key stakeholders during the development of technical solutions and project outcomes that create value for clients and provide a competitive differentiator in the market
  • Assist in the pursuit and proposal phase of key business development opportunities
  • Plan, program and coordinate studies, investigation, design and construction management projects, as Team Leader or Project Technical Lead, to deliver the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to quality standards
  • Effectively develop people by acting as a mentor, developing them to their full potential
  • Undertake internal technical reviews and verification checks on all aspects of transportation projects
  • Effectively develop commercial arrangements with business project partners
  • Support Business Leaders in the development of IP and tools and contribute to profile-raising activities
  • Trial the use of new cloud-based platforms to determine the efficiencies gained
  • Support the vision to become an early adopter and user of new Digital Technologies
  • Maintain appropriate technical and professional qualifications
  • Promote the negotiation of work with clients as consultant of choice
  • Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities

Candidates need to demonstrate the following as a minimum to be considered:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering
  • Chartered (or equivalent) status with relevant national industry body
  • 12+ years’ professional civil engineering design experience, preferably in a professional services environment with the ability to work within a matrix structure
  • Experienced delivering projects to quality standards using remote teams
  • Well-developed analytical skills for data and financial reporting
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to interact with a broad range of audiences globally
