Framework Engineering Manager - Kilsyth, Glasgow.

The Renewals and Enhancements Framework (CP6) requires a Framework Engineering Manager to manage the technical delivery of the framework in Scotland.

Across the framework the designs will include: underbridge / overbridge strengthening, repair, and replacement; level crossing upgrades / replacements; scour protection and coastal defences; station refurbishment; Enhancements projects such as new stations; Ancillary Civils for other disciplines.

Reporting to the regional Engineering Manager, you will ensure that business processes are followed, and that emerging techniques and technologies are assessed for suitability.

The role will be located in the regional head office in Kilsyth, with regular travel required for meeting attendance in the Glasgow area, and occasional site meetings around Scotland.

Your key activities will include:
  • Setting up and managing all necessary Engineering Management procedures and processes.
  • Liaising with Network Rail counterparts to ensure consistency of approach with regard to Engineering Management procedures and processes.
  • Establishing and promoting best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Collating and promoting strategic advice and knowledge associated with design management and engineering best practice.
  • Identifying, coaching, and developing key staff.
  • Being accountable for mitigation measures within the programme and for agreement of design programme and mitigation measures with design consultants.
  • Being accountable for Risk Management of designs and design programmes.
  • Coordination with project management on project reporting and project controls.
  • Managing the delivery of technical guidance and service support to bid and project meetings to contribute a clear view for delivering design management and engineering.

Job Requirements
Your qualifications, skills and experience should include:
  • Degree qualified.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience of design / design management / construction to inform process reviews.
  • Awareness of design codes, specifications and standards relating to core construction activities and materials.
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently when required.
  • Familiarity with the rail environment preferred but not essential.
  • PTS and CSCS certification preferred but not essential.
