Coastal Project Engineer / Coastal Engineer

Salary: £19,602 - £41,104 (Career Grade)

Job Ref: HB0011

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy multi-disciplinary team managing coastal flood and erosion risk on the south coast.

The Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership (ESCP) provides a Coastal Defence Management Service to Havant Borough Council, Portsmouth City Council, Gosport Borough Council and Fareham Borough Council that reduces the risks to people, the developed and natural environment from coastal flooding and erosion. This area includes three major harbours of significant environmental importance and over 160km of coastline.

Working alongside coastal practitioners, engineers and construction management professionals, you will manage or assist with the management of coastal flood and erosion risk management projects through policy, appraisal, design and construction phases.

You will have the opportunity to work on our existing multi-million-pound projects that include the design and construction of the next generation of flood defences at Southsea and around the North of Portsea Island. We are also developing engineering options and designing new flood defences in Portchester, Hayling Island, Langstone and Gosport and we are exploring the development of habitat creation opportunities across the entire ESCP area.

We offer the opportunity to gain experience across a wide variety of roles within ESCP from business case development, option appraisal, design management through to management and supervision of the construction of projects, along this environmentally sensitive coastline.

Applicants should have experience of managing or supporting the option appraisal, design and/or delivery of built environment or infrastructure projects in environmentally sensitive areas. You will require a degree in civil engineering or related built environment discipline.  Project management, and NEC3/4 Contract Management experience will be an advantage in the role. This is a career graded post with the initial salary dependent on experience and qualifications.
