Design Delivery Manager - Glasgow

Based out of our Kilsyth office, just outside Glasgow, our Rail team is looking to recruit a Design Manager (DM) to lead the Design Programmes for individual Projects whilst Reporting to the Programme Engineering Manager. The DM will lead the Grip 2, Grip 3 and Grip 4 and Grip 5 Design Activities including the Management and Reporting of the contracted deliverables, developing and managing the Design Programme, Management and Selection of Sub Contract Organisations, Change Management, Period Reporting and Client Interface. The DM will work in conjunction with the appointed Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) who is accountable for all Engineering activities and appointments. Previous experience working on network rail associated work is essential.

Your mission

Engender collaboration at the interface between BAM Nuttall and the designer.
Establish and promote best practice in health, safety, sustainability, cost, time, buildability and
appropriate quality matters.
Collate and promote strategic advice and knowledge associated with the designer's processes and
design management best practice.
Coaching and developing key staff.
Provide operational, strategic, contractual and technical advice and/or service to bid preparation
and project management.
Promote business process for design management by contributing to / delivering training for
managing design delivery and on NP20 design management procedures / guidance.
Promote use of engineering expertise and advice to add value to the process of design
Implement 3D design delivery strategy to inform and deliver the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
Manage delivery of guidance and service support to bid and project meetings to contribute a clear
view for delivering design management.
Prepare, maintain and communicate design commissioning, commercial and delivery records
Promote business in design and construct by personal contact with employers and stakeholders,
demonstrating high levels of commitment to their requirements.
Keep management informed of business area design management activity and progress achieved.
Actively investigate emerging new techniques and technologies in design management and advise
on suitable application within the area.

Who are we looking for?

The following are mandatory requirements:

Rail experience is essential.
Knowledge of design delivery process gained through successful experience of design and design
co-ordination role for projects or designer responsibility.
Knowledge of project management process gained through successful experience of project
Knowledge of the work process in design offices through successful experience of design delivery
Knowledge of NP20, company procedures, guidance policy and relevant government legislation.
Experience of operating information management systems compliant with ES1192 and associated
PAS1192 standards.
Knowledge of design standards and procedures.
Graduate or equivalent qualification and / or chartered engineer.
