Flood, Coastal and Drainage Risk Manager
An exciting and important role has become available to manage a small team of professionals to help deliver proactive flood and coastal erosion risk management throughout the stunning landscape of Cornwall.
Working as part of a larger team, the role will ensure appropriate advice is provided relating to Sustainable Urban Drainage systems (SUDs), flood risk and coastal erosion in relation to new development, in order to minimise future risk.
The role will call upon the individual’s technical knowledge, expertise and experience to manage flood and coastal erosion risk assets that fall under Cornwall Council’s remit, provide a consenting and enforcement function with respect to works around ordinary watercourses and to facilitate a capital programme of new civil engineering schemes to maximise community resilience within available budgets.
The right individual will have a clear ability to communicate at all levels with various people including other Cornwall Council colleagues, politicians, Parish Councils, Environment Agency, South West Water etc. as well as members of the public. With over 700Km of coastline and 3600Km of ordinary watercourses in Cornwall, there are ample opportunities to get involved in helping to combat the impacts of climate change by mitigating flooding and coastal erosion risk on the communities of Cornwall.
