The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is a unique force in British policing. We’re the specialist armed unit in charge of protecting civil nuclear sites and nuclear materials in England, Scotland and Wales. Our mission is to deter any threat to nuclear material, whether on a civil nuclear site or in transit. To do so, we work with local police services, nuclear regulators and central government. Counter terrorism is also a major part of our role.

The nature of our work is of national importance. That’s why we equip our people to excel and handle any threat. It also makes our officers among the most highly trained officers in the country. Now, we’re looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to be part of this exceptional team, safeguarding the nation.

This is a unique opportunity to help reduce and eliminate accidents and injuries during CNC’s firearms training. As our trusted expert on Health & Safety, you’ll provide advice and guidance that’s specifically focused on police training and primarily firearms. You’ll also manage the recording and investigation of any Health & Safety incidents within the Firearms Training Department, including serious or significant events.

As well as steering us on risk assessment and appropriate controls, you’ll advise on lesson planning and inspections of suitable venues. You’ll help prepare suitable documentation for site exercises, demonstrations and other related activities. In addition, you’ll provide Health & Safety training to our colleagues, ensuring their continued professional development.

Our ideal candidate holds up-to-date Health & Safety qualifications, as well as membership of a related professional body. It’s important that you’ve recently worked as a qualified Firearms Instructor, within a police service or a similar organisation.  What’s more, you’ll have a full driving licence, and you’re happy to travel to each of our locations as required.

In return for your experience and hard work, we’ll give you everything you need to make every day exceptional – a fantastic range of benefits, training and development opportunities.
