IT Project Manager (Transpennine Route Upgrade)

The TRU West Alliance is delivering a key part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a multi-billion pound investment programme that will increase capacity and provide space for millions more passengers in the north every year. The TRU West Alliance is responsible for this transformation between Leeds and Manchester Victoria. A vast range of knowledge, skills and experience is required to deliver this job successfully. We have an exciting role for a Project ICT Manager to join our team in Manchester.

Your mission

You will be responsible for the successful delivery of allocated ICT projects within the broader Business Improvement Programme - managing schedule, risks, issues, budget and other resources accordingly. To ensure acceptance criteria are captured and met throughout the lifetime of the project and that KPI's are met during the delivery stages. Work closely with the ICT lead for the Alliance to ensure adherence with the project and programme approach, integration with other ICT projects and delivering to agreed scope/timescales.

Who are we looking for?

  • PRINCE 2, APM or similar project management qualification
  • Experience with planning software packages (eg. MS Project, P6)
  • Proven and relevant experience as an IT Project Manager
  • Effective communicator, ability to develop and maintain strong customer/stakeholder relationships
  • Facilitate the definition of requirements, project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements
  • Develop and maintain full scale project plans, setting out key milestones with realistic dates, ensuring what is in and out scope for each project is clearly identified, signed off and recorded
  • Assemble and coordinate project team resource, including external development partners and manage project resource allocation
  • Ensure interdependencies for each project are identified and that all those involved clearly understand their role, responsibilities and deliverables and how these will impact on delivering the project
