The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.
The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.
The post holder will be part of a team of professional engineers looking after 623 bridges, subways and culverts across the Bradford District in addition to 40 sign gantries/signal mast arms and over 1,600 recorded retaining walls totaling over 120km in length. In addition to maintaining and improving the structures asset the team also provide a structural engineering certification service for the Council’s Building Control section and therefore an understanding of the requirements of the Building Regulations will be a desirable attribute of the successful candidate.
Reporting to the Principal Engineer (Structures) the successful candidate will be providing support and guidance on the development of the structures function and the continued development of the structures asset management policy in line with the revised national Code of Practice for Well Managed Highways Infrastructure.
For this role the successful candidate will already be undertaking a course of study leading to a minimum Honours Degree in Civil Engineering or other appropriate Engineering discipline.
A good standard of IT literacy of Microsoft Office programs is required including the ability to produce spread sheets and written reports. For full details of the requirements of this post please see the Job profile.
