
Civil Engineer (Graduate)
THE ROLE:
You will join a team of civil engineers in a busy multi-disciplinary environment. You will assist in the production of engineering solutions for site infrastructure for a range of end users. By joining a small, closely knit team, you will immediately become a key part of our business and have the opportunity to undertake a wide range of tasks. You will be well supported in your development towards your career goals with senior staff experienced in mentoring graduates towards chartered status.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of designs for development infrastructure
- Collection and collation of design data
- Production of design calculations
- Producing layout drawings and details using AutoCAD to company standards
- Preparation of engineering specifications
- Conducting assessments of land constraints and opportunities
- Preparation of reports and presentations.
- Providing engineering judgment and advice, contributing to preparation of study reports.
- Consultation with external clients, consultants and approving authorities
PROFILE:
- You will be a self-starter, capable of working with minimum supervision
- Strong technical abilities in Civil Engineering disciplines with an analytical approach to problem solving
- A good communicator, capable of effective interaction with internal and external parties through both written and verbally
- Competent in the use of digital technology
- Motivated to progress to Incorporated or Chartered status, as appropriate, within the ICE
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
The ideal applicant will be competent / familiar with the following:
- The use and application of Microdrainage, AutoCAD Civils 3D, PDS design software for drainage, earthworks, and road design
- Preparation of drawings using AutoCAD software in the field of Civil Engineering infrastructure design
- Producing technical written reports
- The application and principles of Sustainable Drainage (SuDS)
- The preparation of site-specific Flood Risk Assessments / Drainage Strategies
- Production of detailed design information, drawings & specifications for private developments and highway works;
- Detailed design of Section 38 / 278 Highway Works for approval and adoption
- Detailed design of Section 104 / 185 / 98 drainage works for approval and adoption
- Familiar with Design Standards such as Sewers for Adoption, Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges and relevant British Standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
- You will have achieved a minimum 2:1 degree classification in Civil Engineering
- We would request a Minimum of 2+ years’ experience
- You will be eligible to live and work in the UK and be prepared to travel locally and across the UK from time to time
- Full valid UK driving license
